help with writing sample character letter reference for court?
Does anybody have a suitable sample character letter that would be ok to submit to the presiding judge for consideration.
A younger person in our community may have licence cancelled and lose apprenticeship because he made a silly mistake “speeding” . He is now fully employed and is participating in a skilled drivers course.
Does the punishment fit the crime? Punishment would be loss of apprenticeship, loss of transportation which could lead to loss of job (and this could potentially result in further crime.)
Crime committed is speeding. How excessive? Common under 20mph? Other violations showing that your client has a habit of this?
He is, on his own, taking a drivers course to better himself as he has identified a problem of his own and is making moves to correct it.
A great (and easy way) to go about this is finding a character reference sample for a job application, and slightly “tweak” it 
. Add a paragraph here and there acknowledging the petty crime, the honor in the person in reflection of his personal betterment by taking the drivers course, and conclude it with the rhetoric of if all those precipitating punishments truly fit the crime committed. Also perhaps suggest (tread lightly here) a fine in replace of the suspension. May be the easiest, quickest, and best bet.
