Can we enact a law that will require all credit inquiries to be verified via a phone call.?
WIth all of this crap about stolen identities it would be so simple. Imagine that in order to anything a company would have to verified that you applied at both your work and also your home number. All of this stolen personal info will be obsolete.
I don’t think that will quite work because if someone stole your identity they can give phone numbers that are fake or a number that is a friend or relative and have them to pretend like it might be a work number. I was a victim of identity theft and the credit card companies(2) treated me poorly instead of like a victim. They had me faxing copies of my driver license and social security card, and then I had to go to the police dept. to get a report and I had to sign my name on a pad twenty five times(at the police dept.) because the company had copies of the money order and signature of the person signing my name. Anyway, I feel like this: why don’t the credit card companies have you faxing all this info when you’re opening up the account? Also, they ask if i wanted to prosecute and I said yes, needless to say I knew who stole my identity and they did not prosecute her.
